We condemn the recent terrorist attack on Kaaz Educational Center in Dasht-i-Berchi a Shi’a Muslim minority neighborhood of Kabul in Afghanistan, in that suicide-bombing more than 44 people were killed and more than 400 hundreds injured. Mostly dead persons were girls and young boys, who were present in a examination hall to attempt the ‘Entrance Test’ for admission in universities.

This suicide attack on Afghan Shia Muslims is not the first of its kind, but since the Afghan Taliban took control of Kabul, such attacks have intensified. Most of the attacks have been claimed by Daesh Khorasan, a splinter group from the Afghan Taliban. In the past, the Afghan Taliban themselves have also been involved in attacks on Shia Muslims in Afghanistan.

The Afghan Taliban regime has completely failed to prevent terrorist attacks on Shia Muslims in Afghanistan. The Afghan Taliban could not provide foolproof security arrangements to Dasht Barchi, the population center of the Shia minority in Kabul, even though under the Doha Agreement, the Afghan Taliban leadership had assured to provide full protection to Afghanistan’s religious minorities.

Attacks on the Shia Muslims of Afghanistan because of their Shia identity are part of the ongoing campaign of persecution and genocide against the Shia Muslims in most countries of South Asia, which is the motto of the Deobandi Jihadi groups.

We the people believe and support the freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition.

We are petitioning the US President Joe Biden and the American Congress to take steps and actions for fully protection of Shi’a Muslim minority in Afghanistan.
